If you haven't tried the midwest-finesse jig, or better known as the ned rig, yet, then the odds are you most certainly have heard of it. Still dont believe the hype? 85% of the fish you see on this website were caught using the ned rig™ in combination with zman™ finesee trd soft plastics. Here is everything you need to know and more to effectively use and master the Midwest finesse jig.

The jig

1/5 oz Zman™ Finesse Shroomz

The base of the rig starts with a mushroom shaped, light-wire, finesse jig head. There are several available weights, however, i have found the 1/10oz the most effective in shallow water (i.e. drainage canals, small ponds,) and the 1/5 oz in deep water lakes. Zman™ sells a weedless and non-weedless version of every available weight. rocks, diverse structure and weedbeds all call for a weedless presentation. as per open water lakes, and well known bodies of water may very well call for a non-weedless presentation.

The Bait

zman™ fishing products specialize in soft plastics. their unique solo-patented formula creates a lifelike bouyancy and darting action like no other soft plastic. the finesse trd comes in a variety of colors, with my personal favorite being the deal™ (not listed above). The finesse trd consists of a 2.75" Elastisol worm. this small yet subtle presentation, gives a variety of species a different look compared to their regular forage and other baits that are thrown their way.

Little tip

I Always super glue my finesse trds to the jig head. you will notice the keeper barbs on these jigheads are not very long lasting. Glueing the worm to the jig head gives this presentation an even longer in water life span.

How to work the midwest finesse jig

There are several ways you can work the ned rig™. Below is a diagram showing each way the bait is worked to produce the most effective strikes. My personal favorite is the drag and deadstick. this allows the bait to be stealth and suddenly expose itself, allowing for an unwary bass or walleye to strike a foreign entity with gumption. See the diagram below to learn how to work the NEd RIg.

if you still haven't tried the Ned Rig, Now is the time better than any. Pre-spawn bass, and post-spawn walleye cannot resist this presetation. Give it a try! @zmanfishingproducts.
